Saturday September 17th saw the Dutch Open Championships G-Judo levels 1 and 2 in Odijk. For the first time in history, the Dutch Judo Association has sanctioned this tournament as one of the official Dutch Championships. The tournament received some international attention in the participation of the German and British selections.
The Dutch Open Championships were opened by the deputy mayor of the City of Bunnik, Mr. Eijbersen, who started the proceedings by throwing one of the judoka on the mat.
56 judoka competed for the medals. Dependant on the number of competitors in the pool, this was done in a pool system or in a knock-out system. At the end of the day, The Netherlands received seven golden medals. The UK and Germany each won two golden medals.
