As part of the 2nd European Special Need Event the Judo Bond Netherlands organized a SN-Judo referee course on November 5th 2010 in Baarlo (L)
Next year in 2011 the World Summer Games will be organized in Athens Greece. Also judo will be 1 of the many sports which are part of these global games for Special Need athletes.
As referees and officials in the World Summer Games judo event there should be a number of local, licensed SN-Judo officials and referees available. In Greece however there is not too much knowledge and experience with SN judo.
For this reason the International Special Olympics committee asked the JBN to allow 14 Greek referees / officials to take part in the seminars organized in the 2nd European special Need Event. Topics of the seminars are o.a. coaching, teaching, event organization, and a SN-referee course.
Judo Bond Netherlands sees the request of the International Special Olympics organization as a great sign of recognition and appreciation in relation to the level and content of the Dutch SN activities.
Next to the big Greek group of officials and referees there are also participants from Ireland (4), Scotland (1) Sweden (2) Finland (2) and Australia (2). Last but not least also 4 Dutch referees will participate in the seminar. The theoretical part of the seminar will be given on November 5th the practical part will be during the tournament on November 6th
